The EServer has more than 100 Internet domain names associated with our servers.
The EServer gives its top-level collections each their own domain names. As a result, the EServer has more than 100 Internet domain names associated with our collections, with two for each (each collection has both the domain names "collection.eserver.org" and "www.collection.eserver.org", which work interchangeably).
We can add additional domain names as we add additional collections to our server. We are always looking for new works and new collections to host.
It may be interesting to note that the EServer's first domain name, registered in 1990, was english-server.hss.cmu.edu (this was before they invented short domain names). Later it shortened its domain names progressivelyto english-www.hss.cmu.edu (in 1993, before they invented "www." as a prefix for webservers), then english.hss.cmu.edu (1994), then eng.hss.cmu.edu (1996), before switching to eserver.org in 1997.
Below are the statistics for the readership of various EServer domain names since January 1st, 2006:
