EServer Recent Load

Below are two charts, which display the processor load experienced by the two EServer server workstations in the past 48 hours.

  • GREEN: Loads in the green range mean that requests could be processed immediately by EServer.org servers.
  • ORANGE: Loads in the orange range means requests were queued (delayed) before being processed, then sent.
  • RED: Loads in the red range mean that requests were noticeably delayed before being sent.

Primary Workstation (database, CMS, proxy, e-mail server)

Average load from past 48 hours: 0.73 (out of 8.00). This is 90.9% below full CPU capacity.

green is within our CPU capacity · orange is above our optimal CPU capacity · red is way above our CPU capacity

Briefly, because we have two quad-core Intel Xeon 5400 series CPUs, our ideal load value would be '8.00'. (Naik 2006)

Secondary Workstation (web, file server)

Average load from past 48 hours: 0.74 (out of 2.00). This is 63.2% below full CPU capacity.

green is within our CPU capacity · orange is above our optimal CPU capacity · red is way above our CPU capacity

Briefly, because we have two PowerPC 970 (G5) CPUs, our ideal load value would be '2.00'. (Naik 2006)

Read Sangeetha Naik's "Server Load: The Basics" for more info about the significance of these numbers. Upgrading the EServer's (2004) workstations with grants or donations would significantly improve our site's responsiveness.
