The EServer has since it was first founded subscribed to the highest standards for protection of personal privacy for our users.
The EServer is the sole owner of information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others. The EServer collects information from our users at several different points on our website. But the EServer has no advertisers, and collects no aggregate information for advertisers. The EServer keeps no copies of sent and received email messages, unlike some email systems. Some Internet publishers will cooperate with law enforcement authorities interested in information about user email patterns. The EServer will not disclose such information about its users unless ordered to do so by a court.
Anyone may read works on our site, without any need to become a member. If you choose to become EServer member, you are asked to first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give contact information (name, email address, phone number, login name and password). The EServer does not collect any personal information about readers. It is optional for you to tell us when registering whether you have previously corresponded with someone about creating the EServer account, or to send us any comments. Registered members can choose whether or not to log on using their member ID, depending on what services they want to use. If you have logged on as a member, you can quit your browser session and return to the EServer without logging on, and you will be anonymous to the server.
A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive.
- Remind us of who you are and to access your account information (stored on our computers) in order to deliver to you a better and more personalized service. This cookie is set when you register or "Sign In" and is modified when you "Sign Out" of our services.
- Estimate our audience size. Each browser accessing the EServer is given a unique cookie which is then used to determine the extent of repeat usage, usage by a registered user versus by an unregistered user.
- Measure certain traffic patterns, which areas of the EServer's network of websites you have visited, and your visiting patterns in the aggregate. We use this research to understand how our users' habits are similar or different from one another so that we can make each new experience on the EServer a better one.
The Web's HTTP standard defines the standard information that a reader's web browser sends to any website, whenever requesting documents of any kind. This includes your computer's IP address, the kind and version of web browser being used, the referring web URL that led the browser to the document, the file being requested, the number of bytes in the file sent, and the amount of time (usually measured in 1/60ths of a second) that it took to send the file. Every webserver receives this information, and various sites use it in different ways.
The EServer logs the date, time, user IP address, and document title being requested. Every hour on the hour, the site generates an analysis of readership since January 1, 2006 for our authors' and editors' use, which includes the number of "hits" as well as its estimate (based on time delay and IP addresses) of how many actual visitors have read documents in each EServer collection in the past week. The server also logs how many times each document was requested. No personally identifiable information is collected or shared in these reports.
This information is only shared with EServer members, the people who contribute to our publication. None of this information is shared with anyone else. A few individual EServer collections may choose to use data from web services such as Google Analytics as well, to complement the data gathered from the HTTP logs, but those data do not contain any personally identifiable information, and are available solely to collection editors for the purposes of improving the websites.

The EServer does not share information about individual readers with our editors, authors or partners. We do share aggregated information with our editors. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. Editors use the information only to gauge the success of their websites.
This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the EServer is not responsible for the privacy practices of sites without an
eserver.org domain name. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.
The EServer takes every precaution to protect our users' information. Your EServer Account Information and EServer Profile are password-protected so that you and only you have access to this personal information. You may edit both by using your EServer ID and password.
We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. the EServer will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Also remember to sign out of your EServer account and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, the EServer cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
