The Apache web server supports a plug-in module called "mod_rewrite" which permits a server to modify any HTTP request into another request, either as a dynamic redirect (which automatically forwards any request to a different URL), or as a proxy rewrite (which automatically forwards any request to a different URL, but completely invisibly to the web browser).

Because of this, the EServer can move collections from old URL addresses to new ones, and either make those explicit (forcing search engines to update their links) to invisibly to end users (so that links and browsers won't know the file has moved).
